Electric Roland!

It was a beautiful clear, but very cold afternoon.  We decided to spend the time inside and Roland got a lot of static in his hair.  It happens when he rubs his head on his chair.  Did I mention "his" chair.   Roland has his own special black leather chair that are in a lot of these photographs.

Merry Christmas 2014

Roland found a great preschool this fall: Flower Drum Preschool, and the kids spent a lot of time on their holiday projects.  This holiday season was divided between my house, Uncle Romans, Mama's and on Christmas Day, Kasey and Roland flew to Spokane WA to visit Dada.  

Lego's

I have loved watching Roland grow in and out of his favorite toys. First there were the Mega Blocks and then the Jr Lego's,  but now we are moving into the real deal with the small Lego's. And its even better if you can have Papa play with you.

Fall 2104

My Birthday Is Today! I am 4 Years Old!

Roland started his birthday with celebrating his big day at his school:Flower Drum Preschool.  They made a crown and he was King for the Day which was followed with a small party.  Then we all went and had pizza at his favorite Pizza Parlor:Pizza Roma.  Uncle Roman showed Roland the fun of Pac-Man.  We ended the day at his house opening gifts and at the end of it all Roland ended the gift opening with," Thank you everyone, Happy birthday to me."  

Chocolate Chip Cookies and Apple Juice were Roland's request! The kids got Hot Wheels Cars and Stickers with yummy chocolate in their gift bags!

Whoopie!!!

It was a fun day today.  After school, Roland asked for his backpack and I didn't think to much about it until he took out a Whoopie Cushion.  I had to wonder if that was the toy he took for sharing today.  Well, I certainly ran for the camera.  Now that was funny!

Last Bite of Summer and Afternoon Nap!

We had  a great Summer and the warn days lasted into Oct.  With the chilly winds now upon us its fun to see Roland enjoying his last afternoons outside with ice cream.     Now the afternoons involve indoor activities and there is always Nap Time!  

Hero's

       Roland started a great Preschool this fall.  They are learning that "Hero's" are more than Batman, or Spider-man. A Fireman and Policeman can be a hero too.  He wants to be a Policeman for Halloween and his interest now is playing with rescue vehicles. He is a joy to take to the toy store and its magic to see the world thru an "almost" 4 year old.  Especially when he found this complete set.

Can I Play Too?

It has been a beautiful summer here in Portland.  Roland has his own little corner of the back yard where he can build roads and play with his cars and trucks.  On this particular afternoon Ollie needed to play too.

The Run and Hug

Roland is full of life and love.  He happily runs into our waiting arms and he is loving with his response.  But..lets make a hug fun!

I just wanted to contrast how Roland's day looked on this beautiful afternoon.  It might be a difficult balance at times to give ample exposure to technology and a little boy's imagination.  It worked out fine this afternoon.

Oaks Amusement Park!

Annie Lawrence, Uncle Roman's girlfriend invited Roland and I to Kiddie days at Oaks Amusement Park for a play date with her little friend Sophia.  It was a morning event where only the kiddie rides were open.  Roland had a blast riding the rides and playing games.  Thanks Annie!

The Digger!

Aunt Terri came to visit and brought a toy digger for Roland.  Its a bit worn with love but Roland thought it was the cat's pajamas! He showed everyone who came over that day; "Come look at what I have!"

Get Messy!

As Miss Frizzle (Magic School Bus) would say...get messy! And that we did.  Daddy loved the finished work. 

Another Hot Afternoon!

It was another 90+ degree afternoon so we were stuck inside but Roland got a great surprise; 8 Thomas & Friends books with an electronic reader.   It didn't take Roland long to learn how to use it.  Smart little boy!

Belle and Dog Day Afternoon!

The mailman brought Belle in the mail today.  She is a very useful rescue engine.  It was the perfect toy for this very warm Dog Day Afternoon!

Quiet Time

There is quiet time after lunch.  It usually starts with some protest but Roland eventually gets around to settling down and finding something to read, or look at.  We all read during quiet time and Roland is rewarded with an activity he enjoys following the 15-30 minute quiet time break.

The Big Adventure!

     Roland and I went to the Portland Children's  Museum and had a blast! I think we will have a lot of adventures this summer.  It was Wednesday so I had to relieve Soo, Rolands nanny at noon, and then we packed up his favorite back pack (a gift from LaLa) and we headed out thru the big city and to Washington Park.  The only problem was that I did not put enough time on my meter. I was cautious and only paid for 90 minutes, but now I feel we could go for the entire day.  Roland was the perfect playmate and once he warmed up to the new environment, he was off and running. He loved anything with water and climbing. A great day!

Papa was lazing in the hammock and Roland climbed in! What a great way to relax on a June afternoon.

First School Pictures

Roland had is first school pictures. He attends St. Andrews Preschool.  Its wonderful his parents can purchase photographs like these as keepsakes.  Thank you Kasey and Jake.

Building Blocks and Bubbles.

It is a lot of fun blowing bubbles with Roland these days. We wait for a breeze so the wind carries the bubbles high in the sky and we follow them until they finally POP.  We also like to construct TALL buildings until they tip over.  But this afternoon we were able to use all of our Lego's and still have it standing. Its at least 8 inches taller than the photo.  I can see so much growth in Roland.  He wanted to tip it over but I asked him to wait until Uncle Roman showed up (15 minutes later) and he did a great job waiting.

Sprinkler Fun 2013-2014

Its fun to look at last years sprinkler fun and compare it to this year.  I think that running in circles is the normal back yard sprinkler sport.  June 2013-May 2014.

We Almost Made It! Dark and Spooky

Kasey invited me to join her and Roland to go see Sesame Street Live.  She got tickets for the  "Meet and Greet" before the show.  That was a bit iffy and foreshadowed the rest of the event.  Roland was not happy to be in the big arena and when the lights went out and the LOUD music started he did his best to hold his own (although we had front row seats and then went to sit higher so he could cry unobstructed). The breaking point was when there was lightening and thunder and we surrendered.  On the way out we saw other families whose little ones could not handle the commotion of large crowds and loud noises too.   We all do the best we can.   So a few snaps of the Meet and Greet.

The Sprinkler!

We had our first hot spell this week so we broke out the sprinkler.  I was thinking back to last summer and how Roland was a chubby little boy and now he has grown lean and tall.

Mother's Little Helper!

Kasey invited me over for a  Mother's Day Brunch with Uncle Roman and it was wonderful.  Roland was a great helper watering the garden.

Whenever Roland has lunch with us we always read to him. Today Papa was making quite the game out of it.  What fun!

Follow the Leader!

Roland had a great time at the little kids gym.   He had a rousing game of follow the leader with Uncle Roman.  We had a blast! Its a great play time for Roland and just the perfect size.

Keeping Watch!

Roland and Ollie had a busy morning keeping watch over the construction on the street.   Seems like yesterday that Ollie needed to have her paws up on the sill to see out the window. And Roland needed to hang on too!

Guess Who Got A Haircut?

I went to visit Roland and Kasey last weekend and when I walked in their house it took me a few seconds to recognize Roland with his new haircut.  He looks older and taller.  Super cute!
